just perchased an ultimate engine steady for my mini, just looking at where it fits to the bulk head the bolts that are there dont look big enough once i put the bracket on, it only leaves me with about 2 screw threads on the top, me thinking this wont be enough! any ideas?
(its a 91 mini cooper, carb)

just a thought, but i'm guessing that you haven't taken off the nuts that are on the bolts at the minute. when you do the bolts will be long enough...
to get access you need an assistant, one of you in the engine bay with a ratchet and if you pull back the carpet and stuff in the footwell and look up under the dash you'll be able to see the 4 bolts inside the box section of the crossmember. if i remember rightly you'll need to hold em still with a 1/2" spanner while your mate undoes them from the engine side.
they're only holding in a blanking plate for the LHD master cylinders and pedal box holes so don't worry about anything falling off.

Or - if you have no mates like me :'( - Put the bolts in downwards from the engine bay and you can then wedge a spanner over each one and then simply do up the nuts from the inside without any assistance.
