Some of you may be aware that I have been looking for an MGB GT for a while now(well it seems like ages to me!!)

Last night I saw this about to end on fleabay, chucked in a cheeky bid and 1/2 later it was mine. I hadn't spoken to the seller and it really was a blind purchase, how could it go wrong??

Meet Mucky...

He's even got an MOT!!

Initial inspection is promising, sills and inner arches solid, floor is solid, engine has good oil pressure.

He's even got overdrive and a stainless exhaust as well, seller chucked in a ruck of bits as well.

All he needs is a bit of paint, the carbs adjusting and the interior tarting up!!

Hmmm, lets see how this pans out eh....

I still have a towbar and a servo if you need them?

He's not, a lot better than he looks anyway, a lick of paint and thats about it.

Engines running like a dog as well, carbs need setting up properly.

Started stripping the engine bay down on mgb roaster today after giving up on fixing the MGC, just got a couple of bolts on the bell housing then will lift the engine out tomorrow. Was abit disappointed after taking the manifolds off and seeing that the head has had no work done to the ports but got receipts for a full race engine and gearbox. Will strip the engine hopefully soon and check the valves just in case :)

Ooh nice purchase! Worked on a fair few of these, lovely cars and will be on my list of cars for the future, well depending on budget would prefer an MGc Gt Sebring style, but nice cars to work on and parts are easy to come by. Look forward to the project thread. :)

He's staying the same colour, bronze yellow. I was gonna repaint him but I can see the job getting away from me so I'll probably just rattle can the bad bits for now. Interior will be freshened up(on a budget!!), refurbish the drivers seat, new carpet and a bit of satin black spray.

Give the wheels some paint and job done, really don't want to spend a fortune and then have him off the road for ages.

Go him insured today so we went for a little spin, he drives very well, brakes are good. Rev counter and overdrive don't work, the clutch is stiff.

Not too bad really.

I'll try and get some time on him this weekend.
