Hi guys,

I have a 1996 Mayfair 1.3 auto, and my reverse lights haven't been working for months.
I have found the part I need but noone seems to supply it anymore, so if anyone knows where to get it I would really appreciate it.
I need a part under the number, 13H5045, it is a Switch inhibitor change selector, and need a new one really as i dont want second hand a it to run out a few months down the line.
If anyone knows where to get one that would be awesome :)

Cheers.

The starter inhibitor switch has nothing to do with your reverse lamps, and on your car the inhibitor switch is mounted at the front ot the transmission itself where the selector cable attaches. You need a reverse lamp switch, the same as the one fitted to manual cars.

I bought one of these, however my mechanic pointed the problem towards the switch that is in the centre of the tub underneath? A cylinder at the end of a bolt with two spade like prongs with connections coming from both?

That sounds like an inhibitor switch alright, but the inhibitor was only related to the reverse lights during 1965. Every auto Mini since has had separate inhibitor and reverse switches. In 1992 the inhibitor switch was moved from the gear change to the transmission itself. Definitely a 1996 car? The reverse lamp wires are green on one side and green/brown on the other side of the reverse switch. The inhibitor switch is wired with white/red wires when fitted at the selector, or black and white/light green when fitted to the transmission. Check which switch is which.

Sometimes the connectors from the switch come apart, these are inside the car under the carpet.

The wires from the part in the middle of the tub are both black and attatch onto flat prongs. The reverse switch i bought which i thought i would be fitting underneath .has two green wires, so neither of these things sound right from what you've said.
Yeah definitely a 1996 mini mayfair automatic but the inhibitor is where I said in the middle. :/
