Looking to get new manifold & exhaust in next couple of weeks but am confused with the choice !
got a standard 850 engine have done some searches and these keep popping up....
rc40
play mini
cooper freeflow
lcb
maniflow
not looking for performance increase as such, more sound ...looking for a deep purr more than a growl as hate the old pea shooter !
any recommendations / combinations ???
greatly appreciated ;-)

A cooper freeflow from Maniflow and a 1.75" Maniflow twin box system is going to be you best bet.

Actually a 1.75" int. dia. system is a bit too big for an 850 unless it is a full race-tune engine.
The best bet is an original 998 Cooper system including the 3-into-1 ex. manifold and single box exhaust system. Thatvwill give a good exhaust gas velocity without it being as restricted as it is with a standard 850 system.

a simple effective and cheap mod would just to cut one of the boxes out of the standard system.

I'd recommend a system like the one you have posted a link to. The cooper freeflow manifold and rc40 work well together with the smaller bore engines.

The closest you can get to the original 997/998 Cooper exhaust system the better it'll be. The Mini Spares web site seems to be down at the moment, but you could give Richy a call at their Harrogate shop, 01423 881800, and ask for his help. I'm sure he'll know what is nearest to the original and he'll give you a good deal with some TMF discount.
