Hello all,

Will soon be buying a mini in the UK and bringing it back to France, I was just wondering how I would go about getting a certificate of conformity, did a search and not much popped up. None of the ususal google sites will do it because the car is pre 1995 or whatever the date is so was wondering who I should contact being as the manufacturer (Austin) no longer exists??

Not sure if the rules are the same for exporting as they are for importing; but back in 06 I had a little Honda NSR which was a German import and when I went to register it they said I had to have a conformity test (had a special abreviation, similar to but not a VIC), and that was going to cost around £150 just for the test. Although I was told if the vehicle was 10 years or older I didnt need a test. Hence I waited 3 months until it was 10 years and a day and went down to the DVLA local office with everything.

As I said not sure if the import was the same as an export, or even if the rules have changed

I think unless anyone on here has done it in France I'll get onto the local authorities and see how much red tape will strangle me before I find out how to do it.

Hi cagy. If you can afford it, buy one there. If you approach the local authorities you will just get the 'where's the right bit of paper' question and without it, you really are wasting your time. So where do you get the right bit of paper? If it's a pre 1st January 1998 you can't. That leaves 1998-2001 Mpi then and you can get a CoC from here:

http://www.mgrccservices.com/

If you buy a pre 1/1/98 then the only way is via DRIRE to get an equivalent of a UK SVTA. Have a look at http://vosdroits.ser...rs/F19222.xhtml

PS Mine's still on a non-french reg. until its finished and then I'll have to go down the DRIRE route.

Yeah I'll get onto the DRIRE, it doesn't bother me the which bit of paper route because I can speak the lingo so I'll strangle them in red tape and not vice versa.

Bonne chance mon brave, it would be a first! Seriously though, DRIRE have a name for being generally reasonable if your vehicle is OK. The same can't be said for the paper shufflers at the préfecture.

Had dealings with the Prefecture before and not always good. DRIRE should be ok but want to know what it'll cost...

Haven't always had good from the DRIRE, I've got a 1275gt french number plate the works but no carte grise because the old owner had died and the car was sold when they where clearing the house and they couldn't be bothered helping me with that one, well they just shoved me onto other people...

But my email has been forwarded to someone who should be able to help me. I'll let you know how it goes, it might help you.

67€ for a RTI (Réception à Titre Isolé). from DRIRE. I'm currently building a Mk3 Cooper S replica with a 100ish bhp motor . I'm also converting it to LHD and I'm just wondering what DRIRE will make of it all. I'd very much like to know how you get on and I've pm'd you my contact details. I go past Caen three or for times a year on the way to the boat.

Well nowhere down your way to get the boat is there...

Yeah I'll let you know what ******* ups I make so you don't. I'm converting mine to LHD aswell, are you sure the French are going to like a 100 bhp engine?? They aren't fans of engine changes and mods... If it's only 67€ then I could do it with every other mini I own that hasn't paperwork so will have to go to UK to be registered.
