
Brake System Leak Help!

Hi all,
Just finished the front end refurb (i thought) but hit a problem. I've installed Goodridge braided hoses on the front with refurbed calipers and sprung a huge leak on the drivers side. It appears to be coming from the banjo union where it connects to the braided hose.
I've tightened everything up but it is still leaking when i press the brake pedal down. When i was fitting the drivers side hose i think i may have disgarded the locking washer with all the rubbish that came out of the subframe. Could that be the problem?
Any help would be a God send!

Anyone know what size it is as websites just say that its a shakeproof washer part no. WE600101

It is NOT a shakeproof washer. I did see that same error on a website recently. There MUST be two COPPER washers on a banjo, one each side. They are likely to be 3/8", but it should be easy to measure the diameter of the banjo bolt.
But there will be a large shakeproof washer on the outer thread of the hose end fitting, under the nut, to prevent it loosening in the subframe.

Oh, and someone else found recently that the two hoses are not identical, one is for a banjo, and the other for a male 3/8 UNF and single flare. If that is the case with the Goodridge hoses, they will be unsafe if they are on the wrong side, as the simgle flare will not be sealing agains a female cone, nor will the banjo be sealing against a sufficiently flat face. But I don't know if the Goodridge hoses are handed.

Is there anyway of finding out which hose goes on which side? just ordered the copper washers which go on each side of the banjo and a shakeproof.

Yes, IF they are different. They could be made to take either type of fitting, which would be very sensible.
It is difficult to see reliably, so feel down the hole with something soft, thin and pointed like a cocktail stick, If the bottom of the hole is a female cone, it is ok for a male nut and single flare.
Look at the top face where the banjo seats. Has it been machined flat? Then it is ok for a banjo.
I think it was traditional reinforced rubber hoses which were found to be handed, and we have not yet established whether that also applies to Goodridge, so here is your chance to enlighten us, depending on what you find.

By the way, you need two shakeproofs, one each side of the car, unless you have one already. But the banjo is only on drivers side, as you know.
