Hi

I bought a small 25 litre SIP hobby compressor for light use in the workshop.

I'm wondering if I can use a spray gun with it rather than buying endless cans of primer?

If so does anyone have any recommendations of spray guns and also where to source primer paint etc for use with one.

Thanks

bergy

Hello, if you are using a normal compressor you need a drying unit because normal compressors draw in the moisture in the air and you don't want to contaminate yr paint work with water, my brother and my dad run there own body-shop and my dad had been painting for over 20 years and he highly recommends DeVilbiss or SATA you will need 2 guns though one for primer (cheeper one) and one for paint

Hope that helps, Matt

Also look at a gravity fed gun as it would probably work better on such a small compressor.

This is the gun I use for spraying most panels. Its ideal for a small compressor. I have a larger gun that I use for the roof etc, but this one I can't fault...especially for the money.

as MG baily said.. the normall compressors draw in moisture from the air (hence why the tanks need to be bled every now and again to let water out) i think you can get inline water traps which may help mitigate this issue... also Devilbliss air guns are probably one of the best you can get! i know my cousin uses those with a hydravein compressor.
