What would be the most likely thing to cause oil leaking along the rear of the head gasket and baking onto the head by the exhaust ports, with no obvious signs of where it is exactly coming from (no loss of integrity from the piston part of gasket). All head nuts torqued to correct force, and in the corrct order.
FYI - Currently using BK450 and super charged. Cheers.

It could be the head gasket leaking around the oil feed hole to the rockers, which of course needs a new gasket, preferably the copper faced type. Please do check that it has a reinforcing ring around the oil hole.

But before you embark on the relatively minor, but annoying, job of changing the head gasket, how about carefully checking the rocker cover gasket, just in case it is trickling down from there?

Cheers for that. I can't remember, but do the bk450 gaskes have oil seal rings on them? Sorry, i didn't make it clear, the 'baked' on oil is sandwiched between the gasket, block and head. Not on the outside.

Don't know about that particular gasket, but there seem to be difficulties in getting decent gaskets these days I had a gasket once, on a Maestro turbodiesel, where the reinforcing ring was not fitted properly and fell out before I fitted it.

I guess you just have to examine what you get very closely. Every Mini head gasket I have ever seen had reinforcement in the form of a copper ring round the oil feed, and was copper faced, but that seems to be not necessarily true now.

It may just be a slightly warped head, which may need a very light skim. The oil could be leaking between the mating faces around the pushrod holes, and the studs don't necessarily put a lot of pressure on that area. You could try a very slightly higher torque on the rear row of nuts, and ensure that you use light oil (3 in 1) on the threads to get as much tension as possible.
