So Craig gave me this shifter from his Designer, 'because I wanted a non short shift..

Took it apart this afternoon to give it a clean down and have a look at it, and this is what I found:

Wasn't expecting that..

Anyone able to give me any info on it?

Been talking to Bcjames and he was also quite unsure at seeing a gold KAD, along with the original twist and turn collar..

It's pretty worn, so it must be quite old?

So we're not sure what it actually is!

Any info appreciated,

Cheers,

Simon.

I've seen them like that before, i think it is because they are so hard to shift gear with!!!

Oh, if you are asking if it is a KAD, then yes, it is the original one

I'm not asking if it's a KAD, just wondering its age and what version it is.. :)

But it's definately a short shift, not a normal, yeahh?

Definately. The bottom of the shifter housing I removed it from has a small hole in the corner as well. All sorts of **** in the grease on the inside.

I seem to think all the bottom plates have a hole in one corner.

The woodscrew in the side of it should have been a tip off to the condition it would be in!

LOL. I didnt even check to see what the hell it was, as far as I'm concerned its the gear linkage for a Mini and it wont work with a K-series. :P

Why is the hole there? Is it a drain hole? Just seems a strange place to have a hole me. The first one I stripped years ago I assumed it was a rust hole and got my mate to patch it up.
