Just came to fit my new twin SUs and find that they are fouling on the verto master cylinder :-(. My car has been fitted with the newer type dual circuit brake system, and for some reason a verto clutch slave and arm, with a pre verto clutch. Bit bazaar, but it works so i was going to keep the set up. However, now this has put a halt to my rebuild so i am asking a little advice.

1. Can i fit a pre verto master cylinder along side the newer dual line brake master to give me the room I need to get the carbs in?
2. Will the clutch plunger be the same for the longer arm, as the for the shorter verto that is currently fitted?

Any help much appreciated

Andy

Andy yes the old type metal clutch master cylinder will fit and work, and it is period for your car. Get rid of the modern plastic cylinder.
Oh have a nice time getting the clevis pin back into the pedal!

Well I guess that old is new again. That is the master cylinder used on the SPI and the MPI. It is P/N GMC1008 superseded by GMC901078. MiniSpares has the metal body as AAU4969 and a plastic one as GMC1008.

Before you connect it all up get some rust proofing around the engine steady brackets while you can!!
Saves you a job in the future ;)

Thanks for this - it answers a question I had - ie - do I have to cut the bulk head to get them in.

I love the copper re route and I want to copy your idea.

Where did you get the clamps please?

Nice looking engine bay.
