Hi
Could anyone give me some advice on my mini please?

My daughters 2005 mini cooper convertible engine management light is on, I drove this car 80 miles and it never missed a beat but on tickover at traffic lights, it ticks over lumpy and sometimes stalls.
It does not overheat and everything else works as it should.

I am not a mechanic but I am not frightened to have a go at repairs etc, however, I don't want to go down the route of buying several different parts that I don't need. Does anyone have an idiea of what the problem could be please?

Regards

Gary

I'm sorry but this forum is mainly dedicated to classic minis and most of the people here don't know too much about the new ones, you might be able to get a bit more help if you head over to http://www.mini2.com/forum/

But with regards to your problem you will have to give a few more details as there are a huge amount of variables that could be causing those problems, it may be best to take the car to a garage where it can be plugged in and the error code.

My friend had a similar problem, where as the exhaust valves got coated in crap etc and it shut down that cylinder, put the engine light on and it would idle lumpy but be ok-ish driving. I'm not saying that's definitely your problem but your symptoms sound similar to his.
