Depends what you want it for. Obviously, a cheap compressor won't run power tools as well, as the cfm is quite low.

That one will inflate tyres, and can be used with an air nozzle for removing dust etc. It may even cope with a gravity fed gun if you are lucky, but thats about it.... It wouldn't power many sanders, or impact guns etc...

If you want to do anything worth doing with air, you will need at least a 50 litre receiver.

Those sort, are useful for nail guns and thats about it... nothing with continuous air requirements.

depends what you want it for... most tools will define the cfm requirement.. I founf the one I have which is 8cfm, will run a impact wrenches and can spray a decent sized panel, but not enough for sand/grit blasting and would struggle with a DA sander

This is the one I have.. .

But very shortly will be upgrading, so if your interested in 2nd hand ( one carful owner, low mileage :withstupid: )

The one I used to have was a 75L receiver and (IIRC) a 1.5hp motor. It was pretty good with the DA sander (though it did struggle when using it for long periods). It was fine with air ratchets and also impact wrenches, not sure if it would cope with spraying anything much (not that I am much cop at painting anyway)!!!

I think most of my tools ran at under 10cfm, as said above, it depends on what you want to do with em really. That one of GW's would be ideal for most home users.

And is it the higher the cfm or lower that better?
Same with 1.25Hp, which is best ,higher or lower.. and with 6 litre air receiver fitted, how long would it last.
i dont know to much about Air Compressors.

The simple answer is what do you want a compressor for... that determines the size of the compressor you need.. Each tool will have a CFM rating. Say for example, a impact wrench ( like those used in kwickfit ) will consume say 4cfm ( cubic feet per minute ) which is is over 110 litres... so to run continiously the compressor will need to supply than 110 litres.

With a 6 litre resevior, you're going to empty it in 3.2 seconds.

You obviously have a motor/pump which is there to charge the resevoir, but that will basically running constantly to supply the tools needs and hence reduces life of the equipment considerably..

The small ones are only useful for one shot tools, like staple/nail guns, inflating tyres etc...but anything else forget it.

PS. looking for 110 for the compressor. or offers.

iTS 59.99

From reading the above, it seems to meet all whats been said for a basic compressor. Plus u get accessories.

They also sell wheel wrench and nail/staple gun for £17.99 each.
