Hi I'm after some advice (preferably step by step)
On getting rid of a ballast system & changing it to a 12v system on my mates 998 mini please ?

I wouldn't bother, unless there's a fault with the wire - measure the resistance, it should be 1.5ohms.

If you do remove it you'll need a new unballasted 12volt, coil - just connect its +ve to a white wire on the fuse box (not via a fuse). The pink/white & yellow/white wires can be removed.

i have got electric points & 12v unballasted coil to go on will this work if i do the above then ?

Yes, you'll just need the +ve from the "electric points" hooked up to +ve side of the coil as well as your new "white" wire.

easy way to do ut is just disconnect the 2 wires mentined above and just tape them to the loom. i also disconnected my resistor multiplug(gold cylinder shaped thing mounted on n/s bulkhead infront of the tower mount.)

The bulkhead resistor you refer to sounds like the headlamp dim/dip ballast, not part of the ignition.
