Hi Guys,

I have just been told by the mechanic that i need a new Master Clutch Cylinder, i was wondering does anyone know if the MPI Master Clutch Cylinder will fit on to a SPI Mini, they look almost identical in the photos asides for the new plastic fluid bottle on the MPI version. I ask because i think the plastic bottle looks far better than the dirty old tin version.

Also does anyone know if the engines needs to be removed in order to make this repair?

Many Thanks

Craig

The master cylinder used on the SPI and the MPI is P/N GMC1008 superseded by GMC901078. MiniSpares has the metal body as AAU4969 and a plastic one as GMC1008. I have mine out at the moment since I am replacing the steady brackets and I a have the engine out due to needing a new gearbox. You should be able to remove the master cylinder with just the bonnet off.
Use plenty of penetrating oil on the two nuts at the base of the cylinder to prevent breaking a stud. What is a bear is removing the pedal pin inside the car. I have the heater off because I am replacing the water hoses and that makes it easier.

Hey Thanks for the reply, I didn't think to check in Mini spares, looked on Mini sports who's descriptions tell your jack all about the part and fitment.

Thanks again
