Hi,

having a bit of a clearout at home and I'm putting some Mini stuff on eBay for my Dad. I'm wondering if you kind Mini people could advise me as to what reserve prices I should put on them? I know nothing about Mini's and my Dad's out of touch on this sort of thing - his last Mini was owned in the 70's!

We've got:

4 speed Straight Cut Gearbox that's covered approx 5k miles

Race spec cylinder head with and I quote "Massive Offset Valves". Dad says that to get such large valves in, they've moved the valves apart from each other. He said as a consequence, you would have to get your block machined to accept this head. Also, 5k miles.

Balanced 1293 bottom end complete apart from, unfortunately, the block. Again, about 5k miles use.

The box and head are in good nick - they've been sprayed with oil periodically. The internals are a bit manky to be honest and will need a good clean if they're to be used again.

What should we put as reserves on these items as three seperate lots?

Thanks for any advice.

Mark

Well, it is difficult to say a true price, ebay sometimes goes MAD!

Erm, if you were wlling to sell out of ebay, I may be interested in the cylinder head (depending on the full spec). One that sounds similar to yours went for about £200 the other day on ebay.

As for the gearbox, again, there are plenty of people on here that may want it. As a guide, one went for about £500 the other day on ebay.

Slap em in the for sale section at the bottom of this forum, see what interest you get on here, then if they don't sell put on on ebay???? Just an idea.

what have you got from the bottom end then? Crank rods and pistons?

if you put them on egay then put them on a seperate lots.

i would love to have the box off you but think it might be a bit on the expensive side!!

Hi,

had a big response from here and other forums so we're going to put it all on ebay.

The main bits will be listed this evening. I'll post up links when they go live.

There's:

Straight Cut 4 speed synchro box
Tuftrided reground crank
Offset big valve ported polished flowed head
1293 balanced pistons and rods
High lift cam
Magnesium Alloy Sump Guard (proper competition one)

The crank and head have not been used since being worked on. The rest has done about 5k miles.

Thanks everyone for the advice.

Unfortunately the gearbox is a remote so has limited appeal.. only those with pre 74/3 cars will be able to use it...
