As the title says, my new roll cage doesn't fit properly. We ratchet-strapped it up and squeezed it just enough to fit it in, but the two rear feet are too narrow and miss the wheel arch once we'd released the straps (the front two feet sit nicely in the bins). Is this a common problem or have I got a duff one? And I would be greatful for any solutions :) See pics below:

Pic of the whole cage if this helps?

Somebody please help?!

Cheers, Tom

I bolted one side in and squeezed in the rear and pushed the other leg out with my feet and got someone to bolt other side in,

Orrrrr

Could do it the more sensible way, and get piece of wood just little longer than the rear legs, cut a v notch in each end, then with the V notchs put this between rear legs at an angle, and tap one side down until the leg is in correct position...

Was thinking brute force but wasn't sure if it was worth swapping for one that actually fits. So you had a similar problem?

well i believe there all like this,

Yes i did, Im sure its because when your squeezing it in, it bends the legs, but then front legs seem to flex back to where they should sit, But yes most like this

mine was the same. but is a double diagonal so they cant be pushed out that far. i made some turrets for it to sit on plus this made the arches stronger.

Its not ready to be bolted in anyway, your foot pack which is suppost to be supplied with the cage hasnt been welded in.

but yes, often rollcages, not just minis need a bit of attention to their fitting, usualy need to use a porta-power to push the cage legs out

Cheers for the advice everyone, george have you got some pics of the brackets you made? And I will be welding in all the metal plates provided so the scrutineers are happy

I'm guessing you over ratcheted it..... The leg with no diagonal will easily push over - they need to bolt through the relatively strong folded edge of the rear arches anyway - although these are hardly a 'strong point' of the shell!

Almost all cages need a little adjustment, I would go with the sugestion of a porta power would be more controlable that other possible methods. What are you racing it in or you going sprinting?
