Right, to get my CR correct I need to measure my block CC before my head is cut by *Mr Race Engine Builder*

I was wondering if anyone had an accurate way of measuring block CC and had ever compared their measured results to theoretical CC. I know the old technique of using the syringe and a piece of perspex with a hole in it (or a CD). But I was wondering how you could measure it if your block has been skimmed and your pistons stand ever so slightly proud of the block.

I have a magnetic DTI to ensure I am at TDC when I measure it.

Also, is ring land volume what I think it is? As in the volume inbetween the side of the piston and the cylinder, down to the top ring??? :withstupid:

What I was thinking of doing is posting what I calculate in comparion to what I measure. If I get me bum in gear and get out into the garage!

Also, what fluids do people use when measuring volume? Presumably the thinner the fluid, the better, to get a more accurate measurement (not that I suppose it has to be that accurate to that sorta level).

Cheers peeps, Matt.

could you somehow clamp a headgasket on and then measure, preferably a used one thats been "squashed"?

for the 'piston proud of the deck' bit, yeah, that's a good idea.

Though to be honest, that aint a problem for me, more of a general question, lol. My pistons are down in the block, but I was just thinkin of all the different situations. :withstupid:
