i know what you mean about 1100 specials, if it were in any way original i would be doing something with it.
1100 specials are my favorite LE, and in my opinion the only one that really was different enough to make a difference.

why oh why do people wreck/change mini 1100 specials................its criminal..............
because they are exactly the same as any other mini apart from paint, interior and wheels???
the cylinder head was offered on here for ages before putting it on ebay! its a bit late to give you a buy it now price, it finishes in a few hours!

and the vinyl roof....forward mounted side repeaters......and the interior was completely different............such as the only mini to be fitted with a factory centre console, the first factory mini to be fitted with a clock, the only factory mini to be fitted with a cigar lighter, they were also the first factory mini to be fitted with alloys and a radio as standard, they were the only factory mini to be fitted with a vinyl roof as standard, the first UK factory mini to be fitted with wheel arch extensions, the only mini of the era to be fitted with twin door mirrors and a locking fuel cap as standard and no other roundnose mini ever left the factory with the 1098 engine as standard either............so it was nothing like "any other mini" at all......and this was in 1979!!!
the only other limited edition mini to have so many extras was the mini 40.....................and that was 20 years later!!
not even the mini 30 had as many differences from a standard mini than the mini 1100 special did.
