My other project car's wheels have been painted very clumsily and there's silver spray paint all over the tyres. What's the best way to get this off? Is it ok to use cellulose thinners? There's loads of tread on them and no cracks in sidewalls so don't want to change them but they look terrible!

Bit of white spirit on a cloth should do the trick.
Also hot soapy water & a hard scrubbing brush usually works too

Pretty sure wire wool and thinners would do it but just a bit worried about the solvent damaging the tyre.

Don't bother with the above suggestions. They're useless.

What you need is a hammer.
