I know its a silly question but I am newish to the owning a mini but have been around them for three years!
I just wondered if one of you Mini Guru's could please tell me the difference between a "Twin Point" Injection Mini engine and a "Multi-Point Injection" Mini Engine?
There may be none and it may be a difference in wording like the chassis number and Vin number etc! - Obviously they are both reffering to the same thing with different descriptive words!
Any help would be really appreciated!
Many thanks Mark

Twin point is because there are two areas of injection and its called a multi point because there is more than one area of injection (2)

Than what?better fuel consumption on the MPI
MPi is the TPi as blueblood says multi or twin point.
SPi is a single point injector

There are several key differencies between an SPi engine and an MPi engine.
MPi engine has............
No distributor
No distributor drive aperature
Camshaft position sensor inplace of the fuel pump aperature
Block Mounted oil filter
No fuel pump lobe on the camshaft
Different Alternator mounting bolt holes
4 core plugs instead of 5
Extra lug on the front of the block for belt tensioner
Oil temperature sensor mounted in the oil flow before the filter
Oil pressure regulator valve now after the oil filter
Flyhweel has 4 missing teeth in a non symetrical pattern
Cylinder head has alternator mounting bolt holes
No clear timing marks on the timing chain cover
Multi rib polly V drive belt pullies
Water pump missing the alternator mounting lug
The differencies are such that an SPi injection system will not work with an MPi engine and the MPi injection system will not work with an SPi engine
Hardly the same

The original qustion was asking about difference in the engine, not the injection system.
There are several key differencies between an SPi engine and an MPi engine.
Sorry I'm confused, I thought the original question was merely asking the difference between Mpi and TWIN point injection, I wasn't aware that it made any reference to single point, or even mentioned the term Spi??

Yes there are a number of differences between MPi & Spi, but surely "blue blood" is right, there is no difference between MPi & TWIN point though, because they are two terms that are used to describe the same thing??
