Hi guys,

I'm thinking about getting some 6 x 10 deep dish wheels for my 1984 classic mini, but I'm not sure about the front wings, my front wings are standard. and I have a pair of 6 x 12 mini lites at the moment, if I were to buy the 6 x10 deep dish would they fit inside the front wings? If not what would I have to do? O_O

As far as fitting inside the wings, if you mean will they rub then possibly, but only a bit at the very bottom corner of the lip on the front wing. The usual thing to do is to re-profile the lip bu cutting some material away and bending up a new lip.

If you are talking legally covering the wheels, then perhaps not, they would stick out and the plod would not be happy. Simple solution is to choose some aftermarket wheel arch extensions that will cover. If you like the plastic 'special' arches that should be on your car (84) you can get ones that are just like them but wider from minispares ect.

Another thing to take into account. Can you fit 10's? If your car is an '84, it is right on the year that the 8.4 inch brakes where fitted as standard to all minis. From 1984, 10 inch wheels will not fit on a classic mini without modification as the front brakes are too big. Do you have standard front discs?

Oh and welcome, and this is in the wrong section :D

a 6x10 wheel is the same width is a 6x12 so if the off set is similar won't stick out any more

with a 12 inch wheel having a lower profile tyre than a 10 the over all size is almost the same

have you fitted smaller brakes to get the 10 inch wheel on ?

I've got a 1984 mini which is running a Cooper S brake setup.
This weekend I thought I'd stick my set of 6x10 Image split rims on the car.
They rub a hell of a lot on the front wings!
3 point turns have now become 8 point turns!
The wings will definitely need trimming and the reinforcement edge re-created.
Future reference for anyone who's going down the same path, these wheels stick out of the wings by roughly 2.5".
I've got the Wood & Pickett arches which are 2.25" to cover the tread.
