I've been looking into a E16se/C16se vauxhall engine conversion, could someone enlighten me about what needs to be changed and a rough cost for all the parts that i need as i would be doing it myself.

Parts needed: Engine, drive shafts, modified frame, gear linkage and a million other bits that have to be modified or fitted to get it to work.

The ECU and wiring loom for the engine is helpful if it is fuel injected or you could use and after market one like a megasquirt kit.

Cost: Depends on what you want and if you are going to build your own frame and drive shafts. If you were really careful, built your own frame, bought a complete donor car cheap you could possibly do it for less than 1k but that would be really pushing it. I've spent 2k (and counting) on mine although has included rebuilding the shell, fitting a roll cage, bucket seats, replacing standard worn out mini bits, etc.

This really is a question of how long is a piece of string.

As said to most people who ask this question, research, research, research. No one can really answer your question for you.

Have a look at a company called all speed engineering

quick list

engine and f13 5 speed wide ratio gearbox
Frame (mines allspeed)
drive-shafts,inner and outer cvs/pot joints think mine are 22 spline
bike carbs inlet and a nova 1.4 distributer and coil or megasquirt or keep the standard injection stuff mines running 120bhp at the wheels on carbs and should see 140 once set up (only other mod is a fast road cam approx 10bhp gains)
adjustable bottom arms and tie bars
bottom bulkhead mod for gear linkage or could go cable linkage
custom 4-1 exhaust manifold
possibly top bulkhead mods if using carbs but can be done without
internal pedal box/master cylinders
hydraulic clutch conversion for gearbox, much better than the cable one
then green wire to tacho
black to earth
and brown to ignition :)

Frame and shafts are the expensive bit, even though the allspeed frames are easy to replicate id still go back to them for my next one, its tried and tested, it works, everything fits you'll have enough teething problems to keep you busy without faffing around with frame problems, just my opinion
