Tomorrow I'm going to do a very full service on my 1964 rally Cooper 'S' 1310.
It's not been on the road since January and needs a very full service plus annual Waxoyling. Full engine service including removal of opil cooler to ensure all old oil is drained out, partial strip of twin H4's for clean out and re-setting-up, distributor clean & points change, new plugs, adjust all valve clearances and general engine inspection. Then full suspension and steering check and grease. Braking system check/adjust and grease cable runs and brake fluid change (AP600 race fluid), check and re-set ride height to standard +1/2" raised, full systems check (bulbs, lights, instruments, interior/map lights, electric fan, etc). Pump up tyres to 32 psi.
The re-charge battery, put in the fresh 20w50 oil , warm it up, adjust carbs and give it a test run doing a 0 - 60 and a max revs in top gear test up to around 6800 rpm.
Then clean and polish inside & out.
It's so enjoyable to me to do this and Grandson will be over after lunch to help.

No kidding. I've seen less work take up it's own rebuild thread!

I've got to get it done because some 'person' has put a dent in the door of my wife's Mondeo and she will need to use my BMW for 3 days. So the 'S' will be my daily driver and I'll have to wear ear plugs on any sort of journey due to the SC drop gears.
Fun though!I can take it to the Gliding Club on Thursday and test it on the peri-track.

That is how it should be done, i make a point to cheak mine every month ( some say i look for problems) but a good look over the brakes and suspenions bearings etc never hurt anyone.and thanks for the reminder since the build i need to wax oil :shy:

It smells nice as well, but I guess that will be gone after I soak in the bath shortly!
Got almost all of it done. The horn doesn't work when the steering wheel centre button is used, but it works using the button on the navigatort's panel, so it's something simple. Engine started and ran well after I re-set the carbs a bit. Oil pressure is great, suspension is all greased and has no play in it anywhere.
All-in-all a satisfying days work. I'll road test it on Monday morning. Nice to have it all serviced though.
