Even back then it would do 0 - 60 in a fraction over 5 seconds and a genuine max of 150 mph which I did several times in Germany.
The 'works' Datsun 240Z I used to rally was also a 'dream car' and did o - 100 mph in about 13 seconds, but was geared down for forest rallying. Road-holding was not as good as my Porsche nor were the brakes, but the handling was fantastic.
Mk.1 Escort Twin Cam and RS1600 were both fantastic and I rallied in both models.
I briefly owned a Jensen Interceptor with the huge 7-litre Chrysler Hemi-Head engine, but that went as it was so unreliable and needed a lot of tidying up.
One car I drove in early 1964 whilst helping to do the Motoring News road-test was a 'works' Falcon Futura Sprint which had just come second behind Paddy's Cooper 'S' on the Monte Carlo Rally. It had a 300 bhp V8 engine, loads of lightweight panels, close ratio gearbox and lim. slip diff. It was low geared and went like the clappers. Putting that sideways on tarmac was fun and it just held a long slide easily on throttle.
I know how lucky I've been to drive these 'super-cars' and I've thoroughly enjoyed doing so.

I was very fortunate to have my 'dream car' for 17 years from 1979 - a 1973 Porsche 911 2.7 litre Carrera RST.

Had this conversation with a patient and his family who were all talking about Ferraris, Lambos etc. They asked me what mine was and as soon as I said Nissan they looked at me like

How could anyone want a Nissan as a dream car

Nicest car I've been in and been driven in is this exact one, at the garage I did some work experience at. God it was gorgeous!
