Hi,
I was putting an order in at minispares and was going to buy the Jewel rear lenses ( was going for the smooth and curvy look) but they said i can't fit them because my mini isn't fitted with a reversing light. soo i was wondering what my options are instead of standard box shaped lights :)
Cheers

Pardon?but they said i can't fit them because my mini isn't fitted with a reversing light.
Wiring in a reverse light would be easy. Is it the rear plugs they are concerned about?

haha i was abit puzzled by this
i think it's something to do with the arrangement of lights ? ie the jewel ones must be clear infront of the bulb for wherever the reversing light part is, where as on my mini (probably because its so old out here in NewZealand 1966 model i think) it should be red for side lights or brakes or something :s ?

The jewel lights won't fit a mk2 mini.
You'll have to either smoke the lenses you have... Or that's about it!

If you have a 66 only MkI rear lights will fit.
You can buy panels for the rear light area to replace whats there so you can fit later lights.
( not sure that's what you're after though )
This would involve cutting, welding and painting.

The mk2 rear lights only have two bulbs per side and the mk3's have three bulbs. You could always fit mk3 lights to your mk2

Where does it say MkII? What am I missing.....? a 1966 car would be a MkI
Anyway...MkII and III rear lights are the same ( actually, over here MkIV were the same also )

i wouldn't read too much into it being a genuine 1966 anyway, as its got mk 2 lights, and a later single bolt subframe, so its a right mix and match!
okay no worries, thanks for the help anyways!
