haha not that vibrant! :D

Well despite the snowy rain and the very cold wind I managed to get to the shoot (having not seen a puddle and becoming drenched in water!) to the workshop to carry on with my mini! and since finishing the subframe this is one of the most productive days yet!

First Carl held the replacement repair panel for the bottom of the boot in place while I marked up where Id need to cut! After marking it up I then obviously cut it off but just before the line so then id grind the rest off so i wouldn't cut too much off by mistake.

When this was done we decided it be best to sort the inner wheel arches out with having much easier access to the boot, which in fact really did help! I spent a good hour cleaning the right wheel arch up because it was covered in a plastic coat of some type which is a real ball ache to get off!!

After i started to draw up the areas id be plating over in order to then measure up and as i couldn't find any paper to write on i decided the next best thing was to just write them on the body :P

Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

By the time i had finished carl appeared and gave me 2 sheets of metal id be using to cut the plates from. (forgot to take photos of them once id finished cutting them out)

Carl kindly shaped the right floor plate, while i welded the left plate on after half an hour of moulding it. the end product is pretty nice and my welding is getting slightly better....a lot less holes anyway :D, i finished the day by grinding the weld down as much as i could to get a more smooth finish!

THATS ALL FOR NOW! Untill tomorrow where ill hopefully have the 3 other plates on!

View my past progress @ http://www.miniproject.co.uk all feedback, tips...etc welcome! :D

Nah screw that, acid green is really common nowadays. No offence to anyone who has/likes it of course, but people are forever repainting cars like yours because they'd rather it was red or something, hence its a really rare sight. Small details such as an obscure colour really make a car stand out, and beleive me people notice it!

Obviously you can do whatever you want, but the colour it is at the moment really is fab, i'd have no problem at all with it on any of my own cars ;)

Hi, I quite like that colour aswell. I think it would look really good when finished in fresh paint against all the black of the window seals and chrome around the rear lights etc. I think its called Applejack green BLVC228 see link.

Hi Scott thanks for the information i shall have to take a look :D

I didn't manage to type this up yesterday that's why its a day late! but anyway yesterday wasn't as progressive, mainly because i had to do a lot fo cleaning as always... but i did manage to get started on the welding of the right plate! which i shall finish on sunday all being well!
I started by smoothing down the left wheel arch plate to finish that side off before moving on to the right side, the first thing to do was clean up the area the plate is going which took a lot longer then planned, but once this was done i decided to have a trip to halfords to buy some krust as the one id brought the other day was the wrong one but might come in useful.

Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

By the end of the day id made a start on the plate and look forward to finishing it on sunday where i shall then move on to the 3rd plate which shall then mean i can weld the rear boot floor repair panel and the lower boot hinge panel back on!

I look forward to seeing this done! Apple Jack green is the best standard mini colour they ever did and I really hope you keep it that colour. I almost bought one at one point but someone had put a deposit down on it 10 mins before me. He's now painted it lambo yellow. Such a shame. Good luck with it!

I do like the colour, but that applejack looks darker then whats on my mini, its a lighter shade of green thats on it at the moment, but i agree it is a nice colour :)

i also cant wait to get it done ! :D only problem is fitting it around work, and having the money to do it (pay for parts..etc when needed) and with my stepdad making me plate over the parts instead of cutting them out and plating the hole its taking a lot longer as im having to clean everything!! :/...But thanks for stopping by :D

Not posted in a very long while so i thought id do a little update on where i am currently.

With trying to balance work, money, recreation and working on my mini Ive finally managed to mostly finish the inside of the boot, boot floor and both rear wheel arches!
