Ok here is the FIRST installment of my Project Mini section.

What we did tonite is had a go at setting up the carbs.

This turned out to turn into a bit of a bigger job as we needed to set up the throttle cable and the choke cable so it was all running smoothly.

We took off the air filters and my dad noticed a slight problem with the linkage.. so he played about with that for a bit.. he moved so quick i couldnt quite see. But it consisted of moving some springs and bashing somet on the linkage because the car was not acheiving full throttle, after this was completed we got out the balancing tool, of which i will take a picture in the next installment. We couldnt get a good reading because the breather pipe was loose and we needed to connect it all up with a 'Y'. Sourcing some new breather pipe and the infamous 'Y' peice is my job for tomorrow and then we can get on with balancing the carbs.. and thats me for tonite...

UPDATE:

Tonight i put the airfilters back on to move the car back to the garage, i also sorted some new nuts to keep the air filters on.

I also sorted an immobiliser to put on at the weekend.. as there is no other form of alarm.

Nice mini tho, love the colour, shes in good condition for a H reg, must have had a lot of work on her, or is there hidden rust that we cant see :fear: . Is she coming to drag wars. It'll be nice for everyone to turn up in their minis this time

Its the first mini i had road legal.. i bought one when i was 15 to do up for driving but it was very rusty.... and would never had madeit... i also had a white automatic as a donor car for parts for the other and ended up getting rid of both.. so in theory this is my third but the first i can drive on the road.

I thought the battery had gone, turned out to be a dodgy connection in the ignition loom.

because these pics are fairly old u cant see the black grp 2 arches, and the chrome strip im re-attempting to put on today.
