Hi,
I have a new doopost to fit, but i am unsure of how to progress.

Posted Image

Does the new panel I have replace the whole post or do i need the door frame surround to go over it.

The new panel is made of steel thicker than other panels.

Help and suggestions please.

The panel you have there sits inside the door post and is what the door hinges attach to, hence the thicker steel to support the weight of the door. If your door post is rust free then just weld it in, failing that you can now buy door jamb panels to replace the door post.

Hi Matt,

You can see page 2 of my project thread for an example.

But I suggest you brace a bit before cutting any metal, because you don't seem to have too much around!

You will need the ''flitch panel'' to close the post at the inside of the car

Thanks guys.

By looks of things, the 2 replies show the 2 ways i was considering. With regard to bracing, the doorstep is still in place and while it will need replacing, is solid enough to use as a referance for fitting the new post. I have the flitch panel already along with the scuttle corner.

I think i'll fit a replacement door frame and then weld the new hinge panel to it - this seems more correct when comparing with the existing rust riddled panels!!!

i'm in a similar position, i've got the same replacement panal as you. The flitch panel needs some repairs and i have a new a panel put i'm hoping to keep all the other surrounding panels, does this seem feasable
