Ive got a Phonex Gold amp and sub. i had it installed in my honda, but recently ripped it out so i could sell the car to get my mini. In doing so my pigs tits fiddled with all the knobs. What i want to know is what settings i need to get the best from my sub.

Also, what is the LPL connection for?

Cheers

for using it with a subwoofer you want the frequency dial turned low, anywhere 80hz and below is fine.
the more punchy you want the bass the higher you turn the dial, the deeper you want it turn it lower.

the normal bass adjustment is just taste really have a fiddle till you are happy with the sound same goes for the
sensitivity dial, it pretty much does what it says.

the lpl connector although im not 100% is probably an input from some kind of digital processing unit, pheonix gold do a lot of wicked kit but as i say its just a guess.

the LPL connection looks like RJ-45 (network cable connection)

looks more like an rj-11 to me :w00t: on a more serious note it might be for a remote type thingy i have one on my amp it allows me to adjust the amount of bass (bass boost typejobby) from the drivers seat. the one on my amp it is exactly the same port as that on you PG amp

Start off by setting the LPF to around 80Hz and work form there, you can go as far as 120Hz with most subs.

Also i'd turn the bass boost down till you've got it all running and then adjust to your liking and set the gain at minimum to start with and adjust to suit.

LPL does indeed look like some kind of remote gain/bass boost input

I'd put the BASS know down to 0, or maybe just a tiny amount...bass boost is poo

CONFIG...looks like the type of cross over you want to implement (though I don't get why it has an AMP and AUX label...I guess you can choose to apply the crossover to the output, or just leave it as a full signal?)

Set it to LP if possible, which will only send the low frequencies to the sub

just a little confusing now, got three LP positions

Apm: LP Aux: BY
Apm: LP Aux: HP
Apm: HP Aux: LP

some things are far beyond me!

is it a 2 channel amp just running the sub?

it looks like the Aux setting is for the type of sound you want to output via the AUX RCA outputs, shown in the 3rd pic.

if you are not using these outputs for another amp and just using this amp for the sub then i would set it to: AMP: LP AUx BY

LP=low pass---allows low frequencies through stops all higher frquencies
BY=Bypass--- allows all signals/frequencies through
HP=High pass---allows high frquencies through stops all lower frequencies

these are the type of filters that you would select depending on what speakers you are running.

hope this makes sense.

Dammit Miniboo...that was what my brain was trying to get at yesterday, but it just wouldn't let me get the final details :w00t:

Pretty sure that's how it will work...so in your case want the dial set to either of the LPs on the top. The bottom isnt important unless you are gonna run another amp linked to this one
