hi! i read somewhere that a rechargable drill with a small propshaft/propeller will move a 2 man size boat. really?! anyone ever tried it?

it will, very slowly, but whats the point? current will move you faster

you can pick up a 2nd hand outboard motor for around £100 on ebay

I could also pick up a small dc motor from work and charge the mini car battery up. Not be too hard to make a propshaft for a propeller.

That American engkne probably bigger than the boat!

It's a little 2 man rowing boat type thing, a £100 motor cost more than the boat itself

is this boat on a inland waterway or does it have to contend with wind and tides ?

River Thames. Is a project that needs to be ready for middle of June (fishing season) so doesn't have to go far, couple of miles up and down accordingly so won't be hammering it around all day, find a nice spot drop anchor and go back later. But as its a river it has a current etc

Rig up some pedals / oars - for when you run out of battery / motor burns out

thought a nice 5hp motor would be ok oars would be last resort!

maybe on a pond ha ha, electric isn't used for a reason
