does anyone else feel when they watch documenteries or filsm etc that they really would have fitted in better in another decade?

im fascinated by the 80s, which i am old enough to remember, but i do feel i would have got more from it if i was this age, then.

equally though, i do love the 40s, right through to the 70s too. i do sometimes think that my way of thinking and the way i try to live my life would have been more in keeping with differnts times too.

does anyone else know what i mean?

what era do you wish you could have seen for yourself?

had you been around in 59, you could have seen the mini launched for yourself, hell, you could have even helped design it!

I loved the 80's - Driving was fun , and not as taxing

I sounded a bit depressed - but I think that is what we are in for

I hope the kids of tomorrow will be able to have fun - and not stacked neatly into taxable units - if you know what I mean

I often think that I'd love to see a lot of the past times, yet I love the age which we are, regarding the technology which is constantly improving and upgrading, and not the stress, however, I like to think that even though I'm a pessimist, I still like to live for now and hope the very best for all situations, which I want success. But this is way off the original topic and is going nearly onto another planet. (that's brought me back to the topic in hand nicely )

The image of the past we have in our mind is just an idealized version of what it really was.
It's a waste of time to feel anachronisic. The cure for it is to go explore and travel, get a taste for the unknown - the future.

at times, id like to been born earlier, simply because then i could have witnessed the age of rallying in the 80's... while you can go see rallys now, its not like it was (plus i really need a motorbike for doing the stage links)

Im also getting increasingly pissed off at all the comercial music about, absolutly god aweful over produced, auto tuned, tallentless good for nothing... My problem with it all, apart from sounding aweful is that all the decent bands who have been about for decades, working hard, playing guitar harder, writing their own songs get little to no recognition. What ever happened to heavy metal, a small band of loyal followers still stick by it. What ever does get air-play very rarely would be only ever the songs people might know, and certainly not any mainstream radio stations
Its nice to have something your own, that only some will want to partake in it. but it would be nice if there was a few more fans about. a few more bars open etc

OK, this is a weird one for me. I've often thought I would have loved to have been around 10 years older than I actually am. My music taste has always been a bit odd and I've always been about 10 years behind with taste in cars, taste in fashion, taste in generally everything....

BUT, if I was born in 1967 instead of 1977, would I then think that I would rather have been born in 1957? Then, if I'd been born in 1957 instead of 1967 or 1977, would I want to have been born in 1947?

I think (in my case) it's a "grass is always greener" situation.

I'd say I'd like to have been born in a different era, but the problem is, I like something from every era... I simply couldn't choose!

I'd probably choose to have been born about 1950 if anything, so I was able to experience the 70's- my favorite era of cars

owning a mini or alternative classic in the 60s/70s I don't feel would have the same effect as it does now because it's considered a 'classic' and and 'icon', back then they were every day cars, and were very popular, I think I much prefer mini ownership now it's 'unique' and there's many more events, clubs and shows etc.

And how could I run a mini without TMF? D:
