It is possible that your car was registered overseas and is a personal import.

DECL/D MANUF 1977 means that the car was manufactured in 1977.

I'm guessing that your car has a 1979 registration letter (T or V). The DVLA did not start to issue age related plates until 1983 so personal imports up until that time were issued with the current year letter.

Declared manufactured - so that was when it was apparently built, but not registered in the uk until 1979

As for your insurance company just give them the registration number. They may ask if the car was originally used overseas, but I don't think it should make too much differance with a Mini.

I had a car registered in 1979 on a 'T' plate and that was DECL/D Manuf in 1973. I had imported it from Germany and it was a 1973 car.
