Hello there,

I don't know how many people are aware, but the pass plus is being stopped in 2 years (2014)
I asked my driving teacher and he says that this also means theat insurance companies will no longer consider the Pass Plus.

This is why I am doing a B-TECH course in driving, this works out cheaper and more relevent to todays motoringness.
The BTECH is done mostly when you have passed your test, through a 3 hour motorway course and an assesment to see how aware / comitant you are.

Then there's 2 booklets of questions to complete. These are done in your own time and you can ask people and use the internet ect.
I don't know everything about it but I'm sure there a website explaining it somewhere.

So my advice is, if you're considering doing a pass plus, then also consider the cheaper B-TECH. A few insurance companies are beginning to recognise it, one being Adrian Fluxx I think.

Only a handful of instructors teach it though
Ben

Pass plus is pointless really as it doesnt really effect classic insurance, and the only driving condition you dont face on normal driving lessons is motorways.

I did a 2 hour lesson on the motorway as soon as I passed ( well the Min was at the paintshop :P ), much better value IMO

didn't know that, thanks for sharing. I was skeptical about doing pass plus, it costs alot to just drive up and down the motorway for abit.

The pass plus also has modules on different weather conditions, which, as far as i'm aware are done on sprinkler tracks...and having read various horror stories about how minis handle standing water could be invaluable in my opinion

and its not going to make a massive difference on insurance at first, but insurers count it as a years no claims bonus i think, so over 2-3 years you will have saved money in the long run :)

...or better still, actually take advanced driver training lessons with Institute of Advanced Motorists instead!!

That way you not only get the most universally recognised driving qualification by the motor insurance industry (for discount purposes), but you actually learn to drive to a far higher standard for life, thereby significantly reducing your chances of being involved in an accident in the first place and ever needing to claim/ loose your no claims bonus as well!! ;D

Pass plus would have done bugger all to my insurence which mean't that I didn't bother with it. I wouldn't say it's worth doing anyways as what it teaches is easy if your a confident driver.
