Hello everyone,

First post so please be gentle with me.

My daughter has recently bought her first mini, complete impulse buy.

The engine light came on within the first few days ( she was aware of this issue).

She has had the fault codes read which highlighted a missfire on cylinder 3 I think it was?

Taken it to a friends garage today who has replaced the spark plugs and core pack.

He has been honest and said replacing may not fix the problem which it hasn't.

He thinks it may be the ECU and has suggested booking it into a BMW dealer.

Do any of you more knowledgable peeps have any ideas as to what this issue maybe?

Sorry if this post appears vague but i am getting this info second hand.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I would like to think it wouldn't be the ecu packed up. Surely that would cause a more serious fault than a single misfire on one cylinder?

My friend had a misfire on one of his cylinders, so the car shut down this cylinder and put the ecu into "safe mode". The fault was cause by the exhaust valve being covered in "soot".

Hi , if the light has come on, can you get the exact code?

Feel free to look at www.minisunleashed.com for more info.

It is really NOT the ecu believe me..
You need to read the code again after you changed sparks and coil pack AND HT Leads.
