Hello all,

well i got yet MORE problems. today my front passenger side wheel keeps getting really hot. i mean oooow hot. not the rubber but the metal hub.

at 1st i thought it was the bearing as i did them up rather tight so i slacked that off. the wheel binds up a bit if i try to turn it. i did have a problem with the breaks messing me up as i did some stupid stuff. but i sorted it and the drum go's on alright. but the wheel still binds up.

so what could be the problem?

if you have drums on the front, then either theyre not adjusted properly, or the cylinder is partly seized, and is sticking on and the shoe is permanently dragging. if its disks, it could be the calliper partly seized

Get your wheel bearing done back up properly as soon as possible. I don't understand why you had them 'rather tight' and then slackened them off, they need to be done according to the manual you can't just guess how to do them.

If the drums are getting really hot, it's more likely to be sticking brakes than tight bearings, as it takes an enormous amount of energy to heat the drum and keep it hot, against the dissipation via the wheel. I doubt if you'd be able to generate that amount of energy from a lubricated bearing without an obvious racket.

I have the same problem on a rear wheel. No obvious binding when jacked up, but on the road it gets very hot and the shoes are wearing out. I'm told it could be a cylinder which doesn't release properly, or a flexi-pipe which has internally de-laminated, turning it into a one-way valve.

well. i took the drum off. and slacked the adjusters right off. as much as i could. but its still geting hot.

i think their not returing properly. but i can get the drum on easy..........dam breaks.

i mean i can turn the wheel now fairly easly. but when its hot eveything locks right up. also the shoes are looking a bit ........hmmm........crack. don't know if that means anything.
