Hi has anyone any ideas for an suitable alternative for the inhibitor switch on the front of the gearbox of a 1993 sprite 1275 automatic as it seems the part is no longer available and i seem to need one surprise surprise. Would it be possible to blank it off and use some other form of sensor/switch instead or am i talking BS.

Thanks for any advice given Graham

I don't know of a replacement switch for these.

The easiest way would be to just find a used one as they don't usually fail. Are you sure that your one is bad?

The early cars had the switch on the shifter. I don't know if the later ones off hand have the thread for fitting one there.

The ones with park were moved to the front cover of the transmission. There is still a thread on the selector base for the reverse switch but an older inhibitor switch won't work there.
