you need ya battery drop testing, as you said it could be breaking down under load. Can you check the starter motor current draw whilst its cranking?

Wow, a very helpful response there Jimmy. I'm sure the OP has gained a lot from that.

Check that the battery terminals are clean and are firmly attached.
Does the connections on the starter solenoid.
It would help if you gave a fuller description of the symptoms. What happens when you turn the key? Does the solenoid click? Does the starter spin but not turn the engine?

i now think its eather the main power lead will check its not burned on the exhaust or some thing the solonoid on the starter or the power coming from the key to the solinoid

Hi I'm having the same problem!!!
Turn the key 1 time and it turns over really slowly, back the key off then try again and it turns over quickly but doesnt start or can turn the key and it starts right on the button!!
Also found that sometimes it will be turning over fine and then starts as I release the key!!!????
Thought this could be a timing issue but after trying to advance a little and retard a little there is no difference! - also, when it is running it goes and pulls like a dream with no flat spots at all!!!!!
Any help guys??
Johnny I noticed this thread was nearly a month old, did you manage to sort it??
Many thanks!
Roly
