Please excuse me if it's been covered, I couldn't find it!

I'm putting together my standard 1275 to drop in before I start on the new motor, and I need some needle advice.

The motor is a basically std 1275A+ with a HIF44 carb, K&N, Elec dizzy and LCB (so essentially a stage 1 kit!). I picked up the HIF from ebay, so it'll have a rebuild and I'm wondering where to start on the needle? (I don't trust what's in it!)

TIA

I am building a car with the same spec. I downloaded winsu as mentioned on another thread. It reccommended a couple of needles I opted for a BDL I cant remember what the other one was. Download it its free for 10 tries. or if you look up the BDL needle on Minispares website it seems to match their engine spec.

I think a BAP needle was recommended to me when I had a stage 1 kit on a 1275, seemed to work well.

As with any engine, the needle all depends on a lot of variants, not only the level of tune, but compression, condition of engine, fuel type, temperature and even altitude... ( probably not so much of an issue in this country :D )

When ever I start an engine from scratch, and using a 0.1" jet carb (HIF6/HIF44) I start with the BDL...

The main reason for the BDL is because it's a consistent linear taper, this will provide the best feedback to the tuner as to the final needle requirements...

The BDK is a fairly std choice for a 1275 running a stage 1 kit ( K&N filter, free flowing exhaust, alloy inlet )

I use WinSU I just tried yours out and it reckons a B?B obv I have to pay to find out the middle letter, but not got round to doing it. I would reckon BAB, your spec is similar to mine except I have a normal distributor setup and I run a BDP
