Just purchased a set of 'standard 998 mini pistons' off of ebay as I was after a set of conrods for a turbo project, anyway...
They were described as standard pistons but when they turned up they are dished, but as far as I was aware all standard 998's were flat top? Forgive my ignorance if I'm wrong but I was just curious as what they could be from or are they standard?
Numbers on the crown are as follows;
A
M2039 E11
Front G1
The skirt is also longer than flat top pistons.
Thanks for the help

That looks like a standard 998 production-type piston.

Yeah it looks original, I just thought 998's only had flat top pistons, perhaps I was mistaken...

No, most had a dished piston. Flat tops were fitted to the 998 Cooper - well, actually they had raised D-tops.

Flat tops were used in A+ high compression engines - City E, HLE.
