Hiya,

I'm new! Hope you don't mind me posting on here....

I've got a new mini cabriolet and have noticed something really strange.

Everytime I set the clock to the correct time it keeps losing time over a few days. At the moment its 15 mins slow. :D Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas?

Why dont you try the warranty if youve got one on the car, No point in trying to DIY, let them get stuck into the problem :D

Hi, you're more than welcome to post here! This forum is for ALL Mini's or MINI's (despite some posters trying to scare off any MINI drivers that turn up), we don't care but sadly we don't have much technical help regarding the MINI. Having said that, generally any electrical problems with it can't be fixed at home due to the complexity of the mutiplex wiring system, but this sounds like an actual fault with the clock rather than something gone wrong in the settings that could be easily corrected. Your best option would probably be to ask a main dealer if it's a common problem. Some cars have fairly cheap digital clocks, my nasty Citroen gains about 2 minutes a week.

There is a known problem with some of the clocks gaining or loosing time, sometimes tens of mins over the week! Seems to be mostly cars made over the last year or so.

Check the mini2 forums, in the "faults and fixes" section there are a number of posts from owners with the same problem. No known "fix" as yet though.

Prob safe to say this is the result of a "cost reduction" part used by BMW (cost reduction = cheaper cost / reduced usefulness).
