Me and my brother have just got a shell looking a bit worse for wear, wondering whether or not you think its salvagable and roughly what sort of price are we looking at?? Here are a few photos.

Hi mate. Looking at the pictures I don't think its any worse than my mini was, although my mini was a complete car with an (unbelievable) MOT. Depends how much work you are prepared to put in and what standard you want to end up with. Defiantly don't scrap it. Someone else would love to buy it if you put it on fleabay. I would say depending on how much you paid for it/ prepared to spend if would be worth while restoring.
Hope that helps
Cheers, Joe

Thanks for the reply! Yeah we're both pretty keen on spending a bit of money and work on it, what sort of value do you think this shell is worth??

I wouldn't really like to say mate. I am absolutely no expert but I have seen things like this sell on ebay for between £300 and £500. I am sure there are more qualified/ experienced people on here that could advise you better. If you had the shell of a mk1 Cooper you would be talking a good few grand but if you have a shell of a 1980's/90's Mini city you would be talking allot less.. Allot depends on what paperwork you have with it I would also say. If you have a v5 with it proving what it is/was I would say that would raise the value considerably too.
Hope this helps.
Cheers Joe

lol i have seen these go cheap as it is just a bare shell if it was rolling and most stuff there you would be looking at around £300 then as you said above depends what model and age? and what paperwork and etc you got with it?

Best place to look for values is ebay. Just had a look and I would say about £250ish. Just write 'mini shell' into the search box. That should give you a good indication. Don't go on what the buy it now price is though I always look at what people are actually bidding at.. That will tell you how much people are willing to pay.

Thanks for the reply. My brother managed to get the shell for alot less than those prices anyway! We're planning on putting a flip clubman front end on it (saves worrying about inner wings and outer) and getting the usual panels (footwells, boot, scuttle panel etc) and the odd patch up. Not going to bother getting genuine panels though, cant afford it!!

If you need to do the scuttle panel, from what I've read, it's best to use genuine. For my sills, a panels, wings and door steps I've used none genuine and had to 'manipulate' them to get them to fit. They have done the job ok in the end but took more time to fit than a genuine panel would have taken. I have also noticed a difference in the quality of the metal used in the none genuine panels. The weld always seems better with the genuine ones. Also the paint on the genuine panels always seems better although that's splitting hairs.

Good luck with the project mate.

Yeah I would imagine that the genuine panels have a higher quality due to the difference in prices! Are non-genuine scuttle panels poorly made, or a hassle to fit? Thanks Joe

I've never done one personally but I've read that they can be difficult from reading people's comments on forums etc. I will be fitting one soon though.. Like I said earlier there are more experienced people on here that can give you better advice.
Cheers
Joe
