Right tried endlessly to adjust timing by ear to no avail, will try again with timing gun. First question, with standard a plus metro with electronic ignition what should my advance be?
Daft question is, timing notch is about an inch wideand the zig zag marks are tiny. Where on the big notch do you match to the pointer? Also, there are two timing notches on the flywheel which one is it??

think you will find its the longest one of those timing marks on the pulley

my mg metro 1275 i set to 10 deg 1000 revs with gun

your metro may be bit less maybe 6 -8 check haynes manual

Sorry i dont think i have phrased the question correctly. The notch on the flywheel is about an inch long, at what point within this notch do you match up to the timing mark on the zigzag sawtooth. couple of millimetre timing mark, versus one inch long flywheel notch.

Found the timing notch on the flywheel, timing sorted, pulls lovely now, but very slow idle, wondering if 8 degree's is the best setting.
