I'm guessing that:

Drivers side is offside
Passanger side is nearside?

Just trying not to sound too daft, just double checking!

Unless, of course, you are driving a RHD in a LHD country. Then the Nearside is furthest from the kerb ;D That is why I have been confused all these years.

It confused me at first. I assumed 'near' meant nearest to the driver. Now I just have to remember that it's the opposite to what I think.

Remember also, that left and right in respect of vehicles (and aircraft and ships) is always left and right looking from the back towards thje front. So the LH side of the engine is the radiator side.

I always thought it was the other way around, until I got a puncture on the drivers side rear tyre.

I naturally said nearside rear and they spent 5 minutes looking for it before I realised >_<

Think of a ship where the starboard side is on the right looking in the direction of travel. The Titanic hit the 'berg with its starboard, i.e. right side.
So in the UK the nearside is the left looking forward as it's nearest the kerb.
As one of my Minis is LHD I usually use left or right to avoid confusion.

OK, I'll re-phrase that. The radiator and the radiator end of the engine are to the left side of the engine bay :gimme:
