Hi everyone,

I am experiencing some issues with my 1st Mini which I just purchased.

The most pressing and concerning to me at the moment is that the mechanic I took it to says that the engine is jammed and wont move at all. The previous owner says it is because the gears are disengaged and one must first get underneath and adjust them and put some pin in place before you can start it and/or put it in neutral and move it.

Does anyone at all have any idea of what I am talking about and what may be the problem and/or the possible solution to it?!?!?!?

I would REALLY appreciate any and all help, specially if it will spare me having the mechanic tell me it is completely jammed and he must disassemble the engine and/or transmission to see what is the matter as he hinted/mentioned the last time we talked.

HELP!!!! PLEASE :-(

There is no adjustment on the gears. It seems that the roll pin RSP1416 in the gear linkage is missing, absolutely trivial to fix, but you do need to get underneath. Item 25 in the Somerford Mini diagram. If it is not that, I fear that you have serious problems.

have someone press the clutch whilst someone else trys to push the car backwards or forwards. if it moves freely it's stuck in gear.

also, when you move the gearstick, is it like stirring porridge?
