I wonder what I could do with this :shifty:

And I've been thinking...... Is there enough micra conversions going on to justify a Micra engine conversion section? Makes life easier to find other peoples efforts

I had a Micra a few years ago -

bullet proof 16v engine - nice gearbox

only fault was the throttle body sensor - which had dry soldier joints (easy fix)

everyone took the pi$$ - but I couldn't knock it

ideal engine conversion I would think

Will you get any sort of power increase with the Micra engine?

i guess any engine, has got to be lighter than an A series.

thats its biggest downfall, if it was lighter it would be perfect.

Is there much work involved in replacing the A series with the Micra engine? I'm guessing it's not as involved as a VTEC conversion etc

Small world! Got the engine out today, it is lighter than a A-series thats for sure, as when man handling it I could notice a difference.

The nissan 1.3 engine gives approx 80bhp as standard, compared to a 1275 spi which gives about 50bhp. With little work, improving the intake and exhaust of the micra you can see further improvments, some claim upto 100bhp once the exhaust size is increaed and both cats are removed.

As for the amount of work, i'm sure there will be plenty to do, but yes less invasive than a vtec conversion.

Sure I read on here somewhere, someone was saying that the basics behind the micra engine came from the A-series. Whether that's true or not I don't know, but it may go some way to explaining why they seem to fit quite well.

The rights to the A series were sold to Nissan by Rover and were used as a basis for some of their engines. Whether or not the Micra engine was one of those I don't know.
