hi everyone,

sorry i havent replied to your questions but im currently travelling through europe on holidays and enjoying spotting lots of minis everywhere i go.

i mounted the camera to the side of the door using the suction cup but also mounted a safety line connected to the mounting point and the camera (basically a long shoelace) as i dint trust it either but i had no problems at all.

i currently run 2.5 degrees negative camber all round but maz step up to 3 yet but havent decided that.

i have a set of miglia fibreglass flares that i need to trim down a little and will then mount them to cover the wheels but as it doesnt come out that much i dont get hassled. we dont need to do yearly checks before registration in tasmania so unless i come across a real bastard cop i shouldnt have any problems, most of them just seem happy to have a laugh and smile when they see or hear me coming.

the roads are around launceston in northern tasmania and you can find many similar ones just by driving just about anywhere.

if you get bored, google 'targa tasmania' and check out some of our fantastic racing scenery in closed road targa events.

i will put up more pictures when im back in tassie and will do more road shots and especially some with my supercharged mini (bmw 05) as it has been modified and it really does scream when wound up.

there should be some other pages on TMF of my engine build so try a search until i can get some up.

as for me, back on the road (well, rail actually) tomorrow and heading across germany to berlin and will hopefully see some more minis as we go.

anyone wanting to chat in germany, austria or italy, drop me a line to [email protected]

cheers everyone and glad you liked the footage

hey everyone,

I took the gopro out again last weekend and had intended to mount it on the roof but forgot the safety lanyard (thick shoe laces) so mounted inside the car again.

some nice pics of more tasmanian roads though, meandering through the countryside and heading up into the mountains.

there was snow at the top and a lot of ice and water on the way up so grip was an issue and didnt fancy being too ambitious so just enjoyed the outing.

thanks for looking. sometimes the footage on youtube can be a bit clearer (depending on your download speed) so just type in '7 port mini on poatina road' or search for my name (stevericho321).

notice the nasty bump at about 28 secs in, arse puckering moment that one...

Beautiful place.

I watched the film about Eric Bana racing his Falcon in the targa rally, would be great to do in a mini; your mini seems to be the perfect one for the job ;D

The Beast (aka Eric Bana's car) would certainly be a handful on these roads, especially in the central and west coast areas which can more often than not be quite wet. It was a shame what happened to it but we can only hope it gets rebuilt.

I have driven most of those roads and will certainly film more of them as the weather improves so stay tuned...

cheers

Bad news people, a titanium top hat failed today, dropped the valve which then broke and rattled around inside the head briefly until shut down almost immediately. The damage was done, destroyed a piston and combustion chamber so now pulled down to see what can be salvaged. If cant fix the head (which may be possible) I might change to a BMW twin cam conversion. Will get more videos uploaded when she is back on the road again, better than ever. Cheers.

Tourism is a big part of the Tasmanian economy, there are countless national parks, uninhabited beaches or forests for people to visit so our government do try to keep the roads in fairly good condition. The down side is that you can be out for a weekend fang and come across some idiot rubber necking tourist pulled up in the middle of the road as you crest a hill or round a blind corner. This is a problem because the majority of tight and twisty roads that we all love are the same ones that take tourists to scenic spots.

Hope to get out this weekend and get some new videos of new roads so stay tuned.
