You could try bleeding the system and re-filling it. Make sure there are no air locks in the system.
Was the fan belt fitted correctly? If it was too tight you may have knackered the bearings in the new pump. Any strange sounds?
Do you know where the water has come from?
Bypass hose?
What temperature stat have you fitted?

Sudden failure is usualy down to one of the hoses failing and the common one to fail is the by pass between the head and pump when those nasty concertena things are used. top and botom hoses also can fail.
When the engine overheats, the rad cap should lift and release the pressure thats built up to escape through a plastic pipe that runs from the rad neck to just under the front subframe, check the pipe is there and that the thermostat is working correctly, the fan is on the right way round and there is plenty of coolant in the system

When it blew had you been for a much longer drive than you have since you fitted the new parts? If so it's possible that you have put the 'stat in upside down, making it overheat. On the shorter journeys it just didn't have time to get that hot. Only a theory.

Yes found the water was coming from the bypass hose fitted a new one today which was a B******d to fit. Then did exactly same again and made a hole in bypass hose > Im now thinking the thermostat is faulty so will fit another bypass hose tomoz hopefully and try again!

Are you still using those crappy concertena hoses or are you using a piece of reinforced rubber hose, this requires the water pump to be removed to fit it.
Do not fit those crappy concertena bypass hoses, they are as much use as sugar tea cup.

Nothing wrong with the hoses i think its the thermostat thats . So will take out the thermostat after fitted new bypass hose then run it for a while to see if its cured. Also i found the thermostat temp was 88 degrees is this correct or? thanks for your help clarks.2006
