Does it feel different?

I am a little confussed as the dial gauge shows up to around 50bhp on the runs?
And that torque curve looks unbelieveably flat as if it has been interpolated?

I spent the start of your video trying to figure out why you had a big pink willy on the back seat O_O

Moving on......were you pleased with the result or hoping for more? And do you think its worth the cost?

it was showing 50@the wheels to start with, then it went up to 55 after some adjustments, then it hit 60bhp when the advance spring was altered, i have the print out here, the final figure was 60bhp@the wheels, the torque figure was all over the place to start with then it really settled down when the dizzy was done, the torque is dead flat from around 2600rpm to 4500rpm, the max bhp is at 5633rpm but it doesen't go "off cam" until 6300rpm.

the pink thing is a portable chair lol, there is a blue one on the other side....:-)
i am pleased with the result as i was hoping for 70-75bhp and i got 72bhp@ the flywheel, i've always wanted to do a small bore engine and i'm happy with it, it can stay as it is now.

Cool , I bet you are pleased.

How did he work out the transmission losses with your straight cut drops etc? Did he perform a coastdown or get it from std/previous figures?

How different does it feel?

it was moving around a bit....lol, i think that 72bhp is enough out of a 1098 for what i need it for, the power is on par with a MG 1275, the difference in driving it back from Hi-Tech was amazing, much much quicker than it was before.

he did the trans losses from coastdown, it lost 12-13 bhp which isnt bad for a mini box (i've seen mini gearboxes loose 17bhp before now)

the car feels much quicker/livelier, it pulls the speed really quickly now through the gears, mick said that its safe to rev it to 6300 with no probs and that it felt like a really strong engine, he also commented that it was a nice build which i thought was nice......:-)

72 from a 1098 is pretty impressive, and a 20% bhp increase from the changes he made is great. I bet it feels great accelerating through that flat torque range.
Can I ask how much it cost you?

thanks, it does feel much better and quicker (especially after 2500rpm) and with the close ratio box and 3.59 final drive it is easy to keep it within the torque/cam range, as for the cost, i reckon about £700 ish but thats with the s/c drops which were £100 and the total cost of the head with the machine work was £160 so its not too bad really, and the gearbox was £100, it was just a challenge really to see what sort of power the 1098 produced rather that chuck a 1275 in (which i didn't want to do as the car is a 1100 special so i wanted to keep the capacity the same).
