i got the subframe in the end after paying the customs fees but as you said it's well worth the money. do you mean have i tryed to fit the steering rack? if so then yes i have and it does'nt fit as the rear engine mount hits the steering rack so i have the rhd steering kit from mini tec now to make it easy for me. i have the standard exhaust manifold and am looking at getting a skunk 2 inlet manifold and cutting it and rewelding it so hopfulley i don't have to cut the bulkhead . i will get some more pics up as soon as i do some more work on it.

You can keep the front end as it is, but good luck on working on it after - or even during the build, you would need to keep lifting the car over the engine or raise the car on a 4 poster and drop the engine/subframe which is hardly for everyone...

Make no mistake, even a solid clubman front with its extra 10cm (or so) extension seems like you got loads of room but its still a world for people with small hands, or women :whistling:

Theres a few companies that can do you a drive in drive out but the cost side is the thing

i will be keeping the standard steel front on as i want the mini to look as standard as possable. it was not that hard to lift the shell over the engine but Kam is right about working on the engine but i think it will be worth all the hassle.

I'm trying to have a removable front end with no visible fixings but I can't with my ability so it is what it is, people at mini shows are eagle eye and will know it don't look right but more importantly the everyday minions out on the roads won't have a clue so thats good enough for me!

Fair play to you though, you don't get more hidden fixings then a welded up front - kudos there pal!

How much import tax did u have to pay. That is the kit I'm looking at getting. And how long did it take for it to arrive ?? The import tax is what I'm worried about the most :( do they phone u and say "pay up!?" before releasing it etc ?
Thanks.
Great project

Looking good . It's not to bad at all to work on the car with the front end on worst thing would be ud probably need the engine out to change the cambelt apart from that you can get to all u need .

My subframe only took a few days to reach the the uk mini tec will give you a tracking number it was then held up in customs for a few days as they didnt have a contact number for me the customs is 20 percent of what you pay for the kit
Thanks.
Great project
