Keep this thread updated as I'm in the same position!

Got a 998 auto in the car and a 1275 manual in the garage, but not much mechanical knowledge! Would like to do the swap myself but still think I'd be in over my head.

Are you using the current subframe or swapping for a new one? You can buy spacer plates for auto subframes but seems a bodge to me so I'm getting a manual subby.

Looking into speeding the engine up. Im going to put a stage one on it but not sure what else to do im going to get a new single hif44 carb and the stage one possibly larger valves since one is bent. New uprated alternator and radiator. Not sure if a gt one or one of those 2 core aluminium ones. Im not looking to build a race car just want it to be nippy. Any ideas of what might be a good idea? :)

Standard bore for the 1275 is 2.78" ( 70.61mm )
Demonix.....the 3/8" spacer each side isn't a bodge....It's a lot less work than replacing the subframe that's for sure. Plus, it'll give you that little bit more room on either side....like getting at the clutch cover bolts etc.
One hole does need to be drilled on the left side of subframe ....rear engine mount hole ( edit...might be the front hole, can't remember )

I know it's not a 'bodge' but whilst the engine is out it'd be a good idea to fit new subframe poly or solid mounts, hammerite the subby, check it all over etc. It has some corrosion too, so since I'd probably take it out to work on it, might as well fit the proper one!
